DIRECTOR OF BANDS

Scott Estes

Drew Farmer graduated in May 2007 from Murray State University in Murray, KY with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and is currently the 
Assistant Band Director at Elkins High School in Missouri City, TX.
   While living in Murray and attending the university, he acquired a wide range of writing, teaching, and performance experience. He served as the drill writer for several area high schools, including 2004 State Finalist, Lone Oak High School from Paducah, KY in 2004 and 2005, Apollo High School from Owensboro, KY in 2006, and Hopkinsville High School from Hopkinsville, KY in 2006.  Drew has also written a number of indoor drumline shows, including the 2005 Murray State University Indoor Marching Ensemble.  
   In 2006, he taught marching basics at Daviess County High School from Owensboro, KY. He served as the color guard writer/instructor at both Murray High School in Murray, KY from 2004-2006 and Trigg County High School in Cadiz, KY from 2005-2006. He also taught marching basics at Lone Oak High School for four years. Every group that he worked with made state finals at least one year while he was on staff.
   At Murray State, Drew served as principal horn for many ensembles including the Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dennis Johnson, which was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall for the New York Wind Band Festival in March 2005. He is also a member of Phi Mu Alpha and CMENC.
   Drew is also a proud alumnus of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps where he marched during the 2002 and 2003 seasons under the musical instruction of Mr. David Bertman (University of Houston).

Larry Houvouras

Currently serving as Percussion Director at Elkins High School, Ft. Bend, TX, Bryan Waites has over 18 years of experience as an educator. Mr. Waites has instructed and lead clinics across the country, including assisting and performing in clinics for the Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Educators Association, and the World Drum Festival held in Hannover, Germany. His groups have won numerous honors including the BOA Championships and numerous invitations to perform at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic and the BOA National Percussion Festival.
   Waites’ professional credits also include teaching and /or assisting at Klein High School, Westfield High School, Cypress Fairbanks High School and served as percussion director Clements High School for eight years. During this time, he was also a faculty member of the Yamaha-Zildjian International Percussion Symposium held at Stephen F. Austin State University.
   In addition to his work in public education, Mr. Waites has performed with numerous headliners, including Peter Erskine, NEXUS, Kroumata, and Percussion One and most recently finished touring with multi-platinum country recording artist, Clay Walker
